How to reach the venue
By plane, arriving at Stuttgart Airport (STR), you can take one S‑Bahn line – S2 Schorndorf – that goes to both the city center and the venue. The S-Bahn station is inside the airport building. Please follow the signs with a white „S“ on a green circle to find it. It is an underground station. The line S2 runs every 15 min and will take you in 16 min to the symposium venue (station Universität) and in 27 min to the city center. Please make sure to get a ticket at a ticket machine before going down to the platform.
By train, arriving at Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof (engl. main station), go to the underground S‑Bahn station, following the lines on the ground and the white „S“ on a green circle. There you can take three different lines: S1 Herrenberg, S2 Filderstadt, or S3 Vaihingen, running every 5 or 10 min. Your final stop is Universität. You will reach it in 10 min. After getting off, please choose the exit Universitätszentrum, marked on the wall.
By car, take Autobahn A8, A81 to Autobahnkreuz (junction) Stuttgart-Vaihingen. Follow the signs to the city center and exit at Universität. First to the right, turn onto Pfaffenwaldring, take the second lane to the left instead (sign Pfaffenwaldring 13, 15, 17), then to the right you'll find a public parking lot (as marked on the map) right behind the symposium venue.

Using local public transport
We recommend using local public transport to get around Stuttgart. You can purchase tickets at ticket machines or with the DB Navigator app (see the links above). You cannot buy tickets on trams (U‑Bahn & S‑Bahn), only on buses. Please note that Stuttgart has different zones for ticket pricing. The symposium venue, university campus and the city center are in zone 1. The airport is in zone 2.
Tip: If you use public transport more than once a day, you should better purchase a day ticket (German: EinzelTagesTicket). It is cheaper than buying single tickets.
Tip: Frequent renovation works and strikes may cause delays and cancellations without prior notice. Download the DB Navigator app on your
smartphone to be informed about possible current changes. You can also buy tickets for long-distance trains and local public transport with this app.
