Symposium on Systems Theory in Data and Optimization

University of Stuttgart, Germany, Sep 30 – Oct 2, 2024

Submission

To prepare an outstanding technical program, the following two submission categories will be considered: contributed papers and extended abstracts. Accepted papers/abstracts will be presented at the conference either at a poster session or in a spotlight talk. The assignment will be performed by the International Program Committee (IPC) based on the reviews.

The submissions will be evaluated by the IPC with the help of anonymous (single-blind) reviewers. During the review process, all the people involved (IPC members, reviewers) undertake to respect an implicit confidentiality pact on all contents of submitted contributions of which they become aware.

Contributed papers

Contributed papers feature new research results and will be published in the official conference proceedings, which will appear in the Springer Lecture Notes in Control and Information Sciences Proceedings.

For contributed papers, the Springer guidelines regarding publishing ethics apply. In particular, for publication of accepted manuscripts, authors have to sign a chapter author contract including a “License to Publish agreement”. Please see the Springer Information for authors for the code of conduct and further information on these points.

Rejected contributed papers will be considered for acceptance as an extended abstract at the discretion of the IPC.

If the paper is accepted, at least one of the authors listed on the paper must attend the conference and present the paper according to the scheduling decided by the conference’s Technical Program Committee. In the event that the presenter is unable to attend the conference for any reason, it is his/her responsibility to ensure that the paper is presented by a qualified colleague. Otherwise the paper will not be included in the proceedings.

Extended abstracts

Extended abstracts contain latest research findings or can be used to disseminate results from a recently submitted/accepted journal publication. The accepted extended abstracts will be distributed to the conference participants, but they will not appear in the official conference proceedings.

At least one of the authors listed on the extended abstract must register for the symposium to upload the final manuscript.

Final submission of contributed papers

When preparing the final version of your contributed paper, please carefully read the author instructions by Springer. In particular, the following guidelines need to be followed.

  • In the submission management system EquinOCS, please submit the source files of your final manuscript.
  • Please carefully read section 3 of the Proceedings instructions for authors (Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, etc.), which contains important information on the required source files and further formalities. The instructions can be found here. Ignore Section 3.2 on the length of papers. The maximum length of SysDO contributed papers is 15 pages.
  • In your manuscript, mark the corresponding author (e.g., via an asterisk*) and provide the e-mail address. During the production phase, the corresponding author will receive via e-mail an authors’ proof of the paper, which needs to be checked and returned within 72 hours. Failure to do so will delay publication.

Template and formal guidelines

The proceedings template (LaTeX or Word) is available under “Information for authors” on the Springer website. Please use the template for Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, etc.

The page limits of contributed papers and extended abstracts are

  • max. 15 pages for contributed papers,
  • 4-8 pages for extended abstracts.

Submissions which do not meet the formal requirements (e.g., exceed the page limit or use a different template) will not be considered for publication. In particular, please do not manually alter formal settings such as margins, line spacing, etc.
